All,
MURRUMBA Downs author A.D. (Alan) Crichton has recently published a second book, a novel called Far Beyond the Falls. Like his first book, published in 2006 and titled Bound for Judgement, Crichton’s new book examines the influence of Ned Kelly in Australian folklore. Mr Crichton said his first book, written in poetic verse and aimed (although not exclusively) at a youthful readership, has sold ``very well’’ in the area in northeast Victoria known as Kelly country, in towns such as Euroa, Glenrowan, Stringybark Creek, Beechworth and Jerilderie.
The story in his new book, which is written in prose and also aims to capture the interest of youthful readers, unfolds during World War I in the town of Wangaratta where two young brothers in the Delaney family discover their grandfather’s involvement with the Kelly gang. Mr Crichton said he became ``enthralled’’ with the legend of the Kelly gang during his convalescence eight years ago from a heart attack. He writes a column for the world’s largest Ned Kelly website ironoutlaw.com, which attracts eight million hits a year, half of them from the United States. ``Ned Kelly wasn’t a saint,’’ the author says. ``But when you look at Ned Kelly, you have to look at the good and the bad.’’ Far Beyond the Falls is available through Ironoutlaw.com or through the author at rcr87285@bigpond.net.au.
The Delaneys are as we all know tied in thick with kelly's and are one of my favourite kelly related families......I'm looking fwd to reading this book.
Alan is a (NEW)forum member perhaps he could give us more of an insight towards the book?

| Joe, the book Far Beyond the Falls is a book of fiction with some fact thrown in and is available through Ironoutlaw.com shop or if you're going to Beechworth for the Kelly weekend you can get it through the historic courthouse. Bound For Judgement is definitely not available at Stringybark Creek or Euroa. Not sure where they got that information from. |

G'day Kevin, Thank you so much for your kind words and pleased you enjoyed your journey with the boys. Isn't it nice to escape this modern world, even if it is but for a few hours?
