Hi All,
I am doing some research at the moment on Dan Morgan the bushranger and was wanting to know if anyone knows the current location of these sites (circa 1865): * Tolmie's Station * Evan's Station, Whitfield * Mackinnon's Station, Tawonga
Regards, antmc

Maybe Sheila Hutchinson is more qualified than I to post this information as she knows exactly where the the homestead was.
Tolmie's station was called Dueran Run. Part of the original property is still in existance and can be seen from a road called Long Lane -which runs East West between the Whitfield Road and the Midland Hyway just north of Mansfield.
At the bottom of webpage http://www.denheldid.com/twohuts/policejourneytostringybark.htm I have added a photo of Dueran Flats and blue range in the background. The man on the buggy is thought to be Ewan Tolmie himself.

Hi Anthony,
Mate just wondering how you went with locating Tolmie Station? as Bill described part of the property is still in existance....were you able to see the property? wether it be from the road or otherwise?
I'll be making another camping trip to Kelly's/Stringybark/Germans crk within the next few wks, so I thought I'll may as well include Tolmie Station & Mathew Byrnes property.
Hope their arnt too many campers this time round at sbc :-(
Cheers Joe.D |
